Hydro mount?????
Its not done yet. Just had an idea and I wanted to try it out. It turns lock to lock. Although my steering stops arent really correct(ones missing). I will pick some new bolts up and then redo the tierod mount.
The housing mount will get some more bracing. Atleast one more tube on the front, between the two that are already there. Ill prob also see about adding some in the back.

That was kinda the idea I was pming you about, but M2C is that I would add a flat stock from the axle tube to just below the hydro ram end on top ..
I picture the force of that ram doing this...(take your hand and hold up and turn back and forth which will twist the tubes off) if that makes sense...

Get the 2207 (1.75x6" stroke) I am going with that one over a POS from WTO and bubba can get a good $$$ on them too... :2thumbs:

I tired to stay off of the ubolt plate and spring as I didnt want to put any more stress on the pin in the spring pack. I feel way more comfortable going off the housing. But thats just me and the way I drive.

I can guarantee you that running into obstacles (rocks, ledges, trees, etc) and jumping a truck will put WAY more stress on that pin in the spring pack than mounting your ram to it EVER will. The force the ram puts on it is spread over a decent sized area (basically the top and bottom plates that sandwhich the spring pack, and the two bolts that supply compression), is close to the center of the spring pack where the pin is located so it’s a considerably stronger connection than for example locating the force out towards the end of the spring (at the end of the spring you’d have a bigger lever arm and a correspondingly bigger moment).
I’m sure it puts some added stress on it but if the pin couldn’t handle that amount, then I think you’d need to be worried about other things even more (ie running into rocks, jumps, etc.).

Yeah I hear you. I just didnt want to add the stress to it.
My pin did last the jump, but I think my ubolts worked loose at BF and thats when I broke it.

Frizz and Hi-Steer folks,
What are the road manners of hi-steer? I seem to recall that there were some issues due to where the tie rod and drag link mount..... Then again it could be old age/talking outa my arse..... :p

what I sent him:
Trevor,
Hows it going?? I got all of the steering stuff installed. Killer stuff man. Thanks.
Now Im trying to figure out how to mount my ram for hydro assist. Do you have any pics of rams installed with your high steer setup on a 60. Ive seen Nates first hand but Im just trying to get some more ideas. Im using a track ram so its a little bit bigger then the normal WTO or PSC ram.
Thanks for any input.
Jason
What I got back.
There are a few different options. You can put the ram on the front of the axle, and steer it to the knuckle. You can drill the hole in the knuckle to 3.4 , and use a 1” spacer to get it up higher when you bolt it in. You could make a little tube plate to protect it from rocks. Otherwise, you might have to go from the side of your pumpkin to the tierod I the rear. That is how my truck is. You have to make sure you have enough room between your springs and the ram, and the oil pan. You also have to make sure that the lines face forward. I would not mount to your leaf spring plate like nate. That can break the center pin. Also, remember that your ram needs to be internally limited so that it only moves as much as the axle. You do not want it pushing extra at each end of the throw. Trevor WFO

Well….that just shoots my theory down huh???
He mentioned that it might do that but I’d be VERY surprised if it ever did. In fact…if it does….I’ll buy every member that wants one a beer. I’m not worried about that in the least.

you are correct the odds of it happening prob slim. Ive seen a lot of setups run off the spring plate and what not. I just would rather go to the housing. I like being difference, which is why I used tube instead of flat. Besides I bet $5 I break it off next weekend anyways.
And I was just giving you shit about your setup. :flipoff2: It works doesnt it, you wheeled over my rig, practicly.

If it did ever break then just grind down the head on a grade 8 bolt like I did and use that for the center bolt.....lol :2thumbs:

No Smog, That "grade 8" bolt is weaker than the grade 9 pin provided in a leaf pack,, Use a black cap screw (allen) these are grade 9 also :2thumbs: and you dont need to grind anything :flipoff2:

Well hell I did not know that..When I got the springs the pins were broken so I just did that...Well I guess I learn something new every day, thank you :2thumbs:
