And I have no fucking clue what I am doing.
I have to swap the input shaft on the 203 as well as the output of course. Have to swap the input on my 205 and rebuild that sucker, some bearings and seals are shot.
Doing this with a WMS kit for a SM465 - np203 - np205.
The 205 is clocked flat which looks to me to be a big hole needed in the floor since I don't have any body lift and don't want one.
I need to figure out the whole Torque mount thing too, mine currently does not have anything, possibly why my T-case fell out at High Lakes??? The bosses aren't even drill either for one.
Oh well, what better shit to do while the wife is cookin the turkey than wrench? :thumb:

If you need any help with the 205 rebuild let me know, i've done about 6 of them now. :thumb:
If you are needing to swap input shafts in the 205 i think you're goona have to bore the case for the larger bearing if the WMS kit uses a 32 spline input like the ORD does. I have connections to have that done for about $40.00 once the case is completely apart.

All the 203 inputs are the same..iirc

Hit up 4x4high he can get your case bored out for the larger bearing on the 32 spline input of the 205

Want a pic of the set up...
And this is the Part # from www.prothane.com on the Torque mount bushings..#34-0359 I think that is the LMC number and this might be the prothane # 7-1603-BL :2thumbs:

And dont forget to use RTV on the bolts(all of them) before you put Gear oil back in it... :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2: Wonder How I know that....lmfao

Thanks, you guys rock! :banger:
I'll definitely be hitting ya up for help. I will need the case bored for the 32 spline input. I still need to get the np205 input and reubild kit. Found decent prices on driveline.com I think it was.
I already got the 203 done this afternoon, mostly. Need a new input bearing retainer gasket. Still need to put the doubler plate on wiht the new shaft but that will take like 10 mins I think.
So RTV on the bolts and not locktite huh? Blue Copper Black??
Thanks! HAPPY TURKEY DAY!

So RTV on the bolts
Sorry I meant the bolts on the 205 Like the cover bolts ..Not the Adapter bolts :2thumbs:

Got the doubler assembled finally! It took some doing too, had to modify the fawkin np203 output shaft to work. The 32 spline input for my np205 wasn't exactly right. I had to bevel the end of the output more to have enough clearance to fit in far enough. Got that done last night...all bolted together!
Now time to figure out how I'm gonna shift it.

Here's a pic showing how I had to grind down the nub on the np203 bearing dome...

Not sure excatly...but I can give you one tip.......
Don't go through ORD for it!!!! :flipoff2:
Ask me how I know. Actually...better not...I just got over the whole "shifter incident". Therapy and JD does wonders.

Trust me, I never would have considered it. I'm making my own, I'm too cheap to pay for their stuff. I'll probably have it figured tonight...
Last time I talked to Steven he was trying to convince me my homemade CrossOver Inverted T Ugly Steering (COITUS) setup would never work and I needed to buy 500 bucks of crap from them.
Here's a pic of it not working...

I figured out the shifters, piece of cake.
Destructions:
1. Remove shift tang from np203. (yes Tang was a great drink of the 70s)
2. Grind the end where the shifter used to attach flat. (it is slightly curved) Bevel the edges too at a 45 degree angle.
(HOLY SHIT I JUST HEARD AN AWESOME BIG BLOCK TEAR THROUGH THE NEIGHBORHOOD SOMEWHERE!!!!!! 5000+ RPM FaWK Sorry for the interruption)
3. Grind the end of the 203 shift stick flat and bevel (see where I am going with this?)
4. Weld the two m'fers together at the ends you ground.
5. Bolt it back on the Np203. Done with that one.
6. Take the bracket off the old shitty greasy np203 shift box thing. (cutting wheel for grinder works perfect for this :thumb: )
7. Bolt it on the np203/sm465 tranny adapter or np203/whatever tranny adapter.
8. Get a nut that matches the through bolt on the np205 shifter and thread it onto the np205 stick/bolt.
9. Hold the shifter up to the bracket inline with the np205 shift rail thingy and tack weld it on.
10. Take off the np203 bracket and weld the nut on there good.
11. Get a spherical rod end to thread onto the old shifter linkage of the np203, cut the np205 little linkage in half, but the two together, weld, thread rod end on other end, hook up to np205 shifter and you're fawkin done.
or alternatively you can send ORD a shitload of cash for a purty shifter and wait forever. :flipoff2:
And yeah the np203 will shift backwards but who cares, you have a doubler.
Cheers! :drunk:

Finally here ya go...

Turns out I didn't have to buy one extra piece of hardware. The shifter from the 203 graciously gave up its parts willingly to the grinder and welder. It all shifts great. Got the np203 adapter bolted to the sm465 last night. Need to fab the crossmember and cut a huge hole in my floor and install the doubler, then refab the floor to fit and fit my exhaust in there.

Crossmember build and installed. Not totally completed though... Need to figure out how the front piece needs to be notched for the front driveline. Decided I want another cross piece in the back...after painting of course.

My doubler is actually done! Drove it this Sunday. Finished up my driveshafts this weekend. Lengthened the front square shaft and shortened the rear and added a CV. Man it is SLOW! :p Just need to build a floor now to cover all the drivetrain shiat, build the seat frame for passenger, and finish my skid plate. YEEHAW!
CaptainInsano

Floor is 90% done, more than in this pic actually, just need to do the top. I opted for welding it in permanent, there is so much space underneath it isn't and issue getting at anything.
10.5 inches high / 10 inches wide at top / 33 inches at the bottom for the parallelagram, and then there is the box extending under passenger for the np205.
Got my exhaust wrapped and squeezed in there too yesterday.
Git n r done!

how did you get the 90 degree bend in it?
CaptainInsano
04-11-2006, 04:46 PM
Sawzall and a welder. :D
It all came out pretty decent considering the primitive methods I used. I brake and a shear would have been handy, as well as a Plasma cutter...
I was so close to buying a plasma this weekend cause the diamond plate was pissing me off so bad. Got it done though, just took a long time...
BTW - The Torch Milwaukee blades suck ass reallly bad! My cheapo blade lasted all day, the Torch 2 cuts and no more teeth. Lame.

once I got the 2x3 welded in it made a great work bench. I just started tacking the sheet metal to it and cutting it with the sawzall. Also works good for getting a nice bend in it. Overall Im happy with how my floor is turning out. Well till I an out of wire for the welder.

Thanks its coming along slowly but surely.
I can't wait to wheel! and for this damn rain to stop.
I wanted to lower the body on the frame but I don't think I can, the doubler will hit the floor again... hehe I could only lower it an inch any ways, probably more trouble than its worth.
Mebee I should taper the front end like all you'ze guyz! :2thumbs:
