Sorry, The owners manuel says it is desinged to cut wood and wood composition only.. It seems powerful enough to cut up to 1/4 metal. and some pipe.. But the owners manuel says no. All I have is a wood blade for it..

I just looked at lowes.. They do have a metal cutting blade for it.. It takes a 59 1/2 inch blade.. It was only $12.99. Not sure if the link will work.. But I'll try..

ChevyCagal posted this up on pirtate about it..
I have the exact same one and I can cut metal with it. You just need to go slow and watch out for it catching - probably a good idea to not get crazy either with heavy gauge things as well. It's a freaking great bandsaw for what it is though.
Oh, and hi Dan, long time no see!

ok...then....if no one else has beaten me to it then, I'll call dibs. PM me and let me know Dan.
Worst case scenario I end up using this to build a wooden wine rack or bar instead of some "team overkill booty fab steel item" for my rig.

it spins way too fast for metal, would be ok for r/c stuff tho :2thumbs:

Like I said, it is a good little saw for what it is. It slices through wood like nothing. I did break the blade trying to cut some 1/4" metal that we were going to use as feet for some sets for a play at church. But that was my own fault because it was too thick. I was able to cut thinner stuff really easy. Just really watch out for the blade catching things because it can jerk it from your hands.

I've already got a portaband, grinder and sawzall so if this doesn't work the way I want it to when cutting metal than it's no big deal. I probably wouldn't try to cut more than 3/16" with this thing anyways.
Besides....someday....eventually  when we buy a house I'll be building a lot more things out of wood than metal so this will come in very handy then.

Um 3/16?? come on now  sheet metal, plastic, wood, meat, thats it. It has a high rpm, when pushing material into the blade it is traveling too fast and quickly heats the metal and the blade, the blade wears rapidly and the metal your cutting gets so hot it actually heat treating it making it harder, and harder ro cut.
Im not shooting Dans sale down, its a good price for a good wood saw, But metal saws are usally variable speed units that stand about 7 - 8 feet tall and have a coolant feed system. I have been looking for a new saw to replace a 93.5 inch blade JET bandsaw that is barley a year old. This is also a wood saw, when I was buying it I thought the same, (gonna use it for fab work) but all it has done is burn up blades and pissed me off. Its great on soft stuff like plastic, but other wise its a waste

I hear you Kevin and I understand what you’re saying.
HOWEVER….I don’t feel like spending the kind of money that’s required on a decent/good metal cutting band saw so this will work just fine for me. I also understand that the cutting speed of this unit isn’t the best for cutting metal….but I have a fix for that. I’m going to hook it up to a rheostat/ac motor speed controller so I’ll be able to create a variable speed band saw. I had a buddy of mine that did this to an electric die grinder and it worked fine.

That is what we did to all our motor driven machines, it's so nice to control your speeds and not pay insane amounts of $$$ to have that on all your equipment.
One controler for all...

Already found the controller I'm going to use on ebay. It's like $10 plus shipping....foot controlled even. I'll post up after I get the band saw and the controller to let you guys know how it works. I figure with the controller, a metal cutting blade and some cutting oil it should cut up to 3/16" adequately.
