I have a bet going with someone.. :rolleyes:
-What is the diameter of the Ring Gear on a Dana 70 rearend?
-Are there differences among D70s as far as ring gear size?

Dana 70 ring gear is 10.5". There are many different versions with the width and shaft size being the main differences along with the pinion offsets. The ring gear was always 10.5" but the offsets are:
70 (.500" pinion offset, used from late 1950's to '71 according to dana)
70-B (.625" offset, '71-82)
70-U (.625" offset, '82+)
70-HD (.625" offset, '68+)
70-3HD (.969" offset, '87+)
And the shaft spline swere 16, 23, 30, 32, and 35. I've heard of 37 splines but I've only seen them in 80's.
70U's are sought after because the bottom is smooth so no shaving needed.

Are you rounding off the numbers? :rolleyes:
14FF= 10.50"
D70= 10.54"
Can I get a confirmation?

Designated 10.5" but yes 10.54" but different manuf. can vary up to .200" in OD so your just being a picky dork :p
