Ive seen the lokar ones. Look too blingy for me. Anyone have any input on them or other setups? My junk was shifting out of drive all weekend so I kinda want to ditch the linkage for something that wont bind.

Jason, I see several references to you finding something on mcmaster as far as strong cables. What did you find?

Thats what I bought, they are very nice. I just bought 1/4" heims for the ends of them.

I'll sell you my old B&M hammer ratchet shifter if you want to ditch the column shit, I mean shift. Didn't get used very long since my TH350 didn't last long.

Id like to stick to a column shifter cuz its easier and quicker for me to toss it in rev or what not. And Im lazy and dont want to lean forward at all. I have a remote for my stereo in my dd cuz its 3 inches to far to reach with out leaning forward. :)

that's weird that your's shifts out of gear all the time....I've NEVER had a problem in mine. ALthough my 203 used to shift out of gear all the time...but that doesn't happen anymore....I "fixed" it!!!

I havnt checked but it could be hitting the exhaust. I figure might as well make it a better system now rather then when I really do have an issue with it.

hey Jason(willyswanter), would that setup of cables work for a np205?

Its just the cables. You would need to fab the brackets and what not. I think it was on pirate that I saw someone twin stick a 205 with the cables. Looked pretty slick.

You know come to think of it I had that problem once on a different vehicle. It was due to a broken motor mount, I would think this isn't your problem since you just rebuilt everything. The motor and everything would move and pull it out of gear.

I understand about the shifter, kinda annoyed me when I had it too.

haha actually no, the pass mount is shot. I didnt want a new one and I didnt have an old one to replace it with when I did the swap.

Well there ya go, that could very well be the problem. When the drivetrain moves it's changing the alignment of the shift lever. I fixed mine with a chain for awhile. :)

Ok as an update to this thread....

Since Im in the process of swapping the 79 blazer column into the 70 cab I figured I might as well do a cable shifter setup on the column. Im my research I found both Lokar and Ididit sell kits for around $100. Me not wanting to spend that much spent a lil time this morning searching for a place thats sells the cables cheaply. If you look at the Ididit kit it would be easy to copy and make one yourself. Most of the places the cables themselves where $30-50. I found a place online that I got 5 foot long cables with bulk head mounting ends on both sides. If you buy more it gets cheaper. I picked up 4 of them. 3 will be for future projects. Ended up paying $26 a piece for them. Along with some ends that I can use, not the rod ends but I could always go that route. I think it would of been $24 for the cable itself.
