Why not run the whole harness for the truck cab and just wire in the toy lights to the truck harness?

Because the Toyota wiring is all good and it would be easier to just run it.Everything under the hood wired right up.The only thing not wired right now is the alt.Everything else is done :thumb:

So anyone done this?Seems to easy. And I have seen one wire alt kits in Summit. But if you could do it this way,who the fawk would buy a kit??
The #2 Terminal. (Marked with a "2" on the case)
* This terminal is used to excite the 10SI into operation. (3-wire 10SI)
* It is connected to the battery positive.
* For simplicity you can connect the #2 connector pigtail directly to the "batt" terminal on the alternator.
Terminal 2 is key on power aint it?If you ran it to the batt.+ it would be trying to excite (uhhh...huh huh...excite..yea) it all the time.Seems like it would eventually drain your battery or hurt the alt.No?

No, it won't hurt anything and yes it's so easy you shouldn't buy a kit to do a 1 wire hookup, but people like to use kits. :flipoff2:
They don't like to learn or think.

I talked to two guys last night that do this all the time. The only problem they say you could have is higher voltage for some reason. One guy said he has had cars put out almost 15 volts.
Im gonna do it :thumb:

MY K5 was originally an external regulator and when I switched to a one wire alt I simply ran a 8guge wire from the alt to the Batt + and left the factory two wire plug unpluged. Works great!

Be carefull, always check your voltage.
I had that and one day it stopped charging, it needed to be excited, as soon as I touched the #2 wire on the positive, it started charging.
It worked fine for another 3 years untill frank raines and the mud pit. :pimp2: :flipoff2:
