for the most part of this year I have been keeping track of how much I spend on gas, how far ive driven, and what milage im getting to a tank.

From 3/23/05 to 12/02/05
Total Milage: 17,345
Total Gallons: 1526
Total Cost (of the gas, no fees): $3848.87
Total Spent in Fees due to using the card: $5.90
Avg $/Gallon: $2.52
Avg MPG: 11.08

On the plus side the MPG is slowly growing over the past 2 months. That must be due to the new tranny and motor.

IF I got 16 MPG and gas was $1.69 a gallon I would of spent $1832 on gas this year.

IF I would of got 16 MPG and paid what I did for gas (avg of $2.52) I would of spent $2732 on gas.

Plus add in what I have spent on tickets this year....prob in the hood of $500. I could of easly saved $1600 by not driving with a lead foot. I think I need to change my driving habits.

Maybe $200-$250 at the most...................................

Now since I must qualify this statement.....................

The wife's job pays for one tank a week for her. She drives maybe 150-200 miles a week.

I haven't filled the K5 up for probably almost a year since it's seen maybe all of 30 miles in that time.

Now if I tried to pull out a number on my patrol car, it could get ugly. My mileage from tank to tank varies from as low as 7-8 (that's a rarity, but has happened) to just a tad under 21 a tank. I'll use 17 as a good, whole number. Estimation has it that I've rolled up 41,800 miles on the car this year. That would put me at 2458 gallons of gas burnt. We only pay something 10 cents a gallon less than what the consumer pays, so I figure maybe $2 a gallon average since we are paying a lot less than y'all (saw $1.96 today somewhere) so that would put me at $4916 spent in gas for my patrol car this year. Of course that number isn't exact, but it's in the ballpark + or - a couple of hundred dollars. Throw in the other six units that are primarily patrol, that would put us around $29K spent on fuel this year, though that number would be way skewed because my mileage numbers are higher than everyone else. If I'd wager a guess, we've probably spent about $20K this year alone for fuel.
