Do you know the % for a $27K loan?

It's 6% for any loan I get up to the $50k. 6% really isn't too bad right now. Plus any loan over $25k i can get extended to an 84 month term for an extra .25%. Amortized out over the life of the loan (8 years) it only nets an aditional $1380 paid out or 4% more. I'm really not too concerned about the percentage rate because I'll pay the loan off before it comes to term anyways. I'll probably end up taking an 8 year loan and pay it off in 4.
As far as a ford goes....I'm not 100% against it but I'd probably go with a Dodge before a ford. I'm DEFINITELY not buying anything new. Been there done that...lost my ass. Buying used is the way to go.
BTW....going to test drive it at lunch today. We'll see what happens!!!

That leads me to this question:
I know when you finance with the dealer the interest is added in with your total loan amount and there's no benefit for paying it off early. Is that different than loaning through a bank?

Yes, it is different. My credit union's loan policy is that the interest accrues as you go, not all at once. That way, if you pay it off early you only pay for the interest that has accrued to that point.
I prefer to finance through a credit union because the service is a lot better but most importantly they don't screw you like a dealer will when you finance through them. Dealers will roll all kinds of hidden BS into their financing and you end paying a shit load more. Sure...they entice you with a super low percentage rate but in the end....you will pay more.

So I went and test drove it at lunch.....WOW....it was badass. That dmax with the 6 speed is the shit. From what he was saying apparently there was under 100 of them made with that setup in 2002. So...I guess it is a pretty rare truck. If i get it he's even going to let me keep my class V hitch (not 100% sure it'll work...if not I'll sell it), my dash mat, floor mats and he's going to swap the power seats out of my rig and put it in the dually.
I'm working some numbers with the guy and got to a point where I think I can make it work. I'm taking tonight to sleep on it and I'm going to give him a call tomorrow and let him know.
Those of you that have diesels (especially Burt) ...what kind of mileage do you guys average. Would it be unrealistic to expect 17.5mpg on the average?

I talked to him yesterday. They sold the dually to someone else but offered him a shortbed some what same setup.

No...haven't decided yet.
They offered me this truck:
http://www.truckworldusa.com/vehicle/356/
for $1000 total more on the price than what the dually was at.
But...it's not a long bed and it's a 2004 (I'm not a big fan of the 2004 and up front ends on the chevy's). So...I'm not sure it's something I want to to do. I've got to decide within the next day or so.
I went and looked at a bunch of dealers today...didn't find anything I liked. THe dodge dealer in Concord tried for almost 2 hours to sell me a new one and I kept telling him that "it wasn't going to happen". He finally understood me after about the 50th time I told him that unless he was going to sell me a new long bed, crew cab, 4x4 manual diesel for $25k that me buying a new truck wasn't going to happen.
As far as % rates go......I'll bet that the % rate Jeremy got was on a new vehicle and probably from a dealer. Rates that low on used cars pretty much don't exist right now.
Congrats again on the truck Jerry....it really is a bad ass rig.

Nate that rate is for a used truck, but I check into it for you and you have to be a family member to be eligable for my credit union, other than that you have to have a credit score of 760 or better to get this rate.
I think you would only be happy with the duelly, cause aren't you planning to get a slider like Kevin? The non-duelly will get better wear out of the tires and you have to buy less tires and you can get a slide like burts. Either way cool tucks, don't think you can go to wrong with either one.

The credit score wouldn’t be a problem.
I’m still looking for a truck. I decided not to buy the 2004 CC/Dmax/short bed manual rig mainly because it was a shortbed and it had the new body style. But…I had the VIN number and buildsheet ran over at www.dieselplace.com (AWESOME website by the way) and it turns out that the entire bed, brakelights and tailgate had been replaced at one time (accident?) as well as the clutch and flywheel (a common problem I’ve read about with the manual ZF-6 tranny in those trucks….apparently there are some issues with the dual flywheels or something like that). So…sounds like the rig had some issues. So, I’m still looking. I’ve stopped looking really hard right now but I’ll start up again once I get back from Mexico on the 23rd.
Yes…that’s the plan to eventually buy a camper to put on the rig. So, I agree, a dually would be best for that. But, if I found a nice SRW long bed ¾ or 1 ton at a good price I’d probably get that. I can always airbag it and not get such a HUGE camper.

To be honest with you....I thought the 1 ton crew cab dually long bed that I test drove rode better than my current 3/4 ton EC/SB. It just really soaked up the bumps and had a better rid. I think it was because of the added wheel base.

Crew cab long beds always ride better.
I still wonder if I made a mistake getting rid of mine, even though there wasn' much left of it but it was a good platform for me to build off.
