I think those are the "pot metal" crappy ones, Mr.Payne is using the "416" Mogs on his truck and I hear there the ones to get. 3300 for them is a ripoff IMO

Yep, IIRC Greg only paid 1500.00 for a set of 404's but then spent BIG bucks on CNC portals.

screw paying 3300 for crap you still need to work on to make work in your rig unless you got money to burn, in that case then just pay someone else to do it
you seem more like a rockwell kinda guy anyways...

Granted, I haven't seem him totally abuse his 404's but my buddy Bare has a 1964 Unimog 404 and those axles seem PLENTY stout enough to go into anything we'd build. I'm sure the 419's or 416's are better but I'd be surprised if anyone were to consider the 404's "crappy".
We're currently trying to set up a power steering/hydraulic assist system on his rig so he can do the con with us without having to work his ass off the whole time steering it. We're running into some problems but hopefully we can figure it out in time. Adding PS to those rigs is no easy task. I can see why there isn't a "kit" that would simply bolt onto them..... :(

Oh...and I agree...this guy is asking WAY too much for this setup. Like Scott said....they can be had for much less. Me and Bare hooked up Greg with the guy that he bought his axles from (same place my buddy got the Mog at).
