Just some random questions/observations Darren and I came up with this past weekend:

•Has somebody actually confirmed that there are NO fires allowed on the trail up there? It’s going to be weird camping without a camp fire….where’s the entertainment going to come from?
•Anyone checked the weather? I checked it for South Lake Tahoe (it’s about the same elevation right?) and it said low 80’s during the day and low 40’s at night. That sound about right?
•Who is bringing spare tires of the 37”-42” variety with an 8 lug wheel? Neither Darren or I are bringing spares and we just want to make sure SOMEONE is in our group.
•As far as tools go…did anyone ever find out if there’ll be a welder amongst us? I’m bringing the normal hand tools and an air impact gun.
•Will there be lakes or streams to take a dive into or fish in?

Looking forward to some wheelin’ and BS’n with you fawkers!!!

I’m outta here…leaving work now and I’m off tomorrow and on the con after that…… :flipoff2:

I've got a 36x14.50 on a 16x10 8 on 6.5 Steelie in the bed. The tire measures out around 37, there's at least one.

I'm bringin my stick holder, jumpers and a couple pounds of rod, anybody else have a second 12v battery somewhere? :D

Does anybody have a spare 35 spline hub or drive flange they are bringing? I ordered a set as well as spare stubs and joints but I don't think they are going to show up on time :(

I'm antsy to go and I still have 48 hours left, ahh!

So dose this mean that we do not have the 25ft from center of trail now...

IMPORTANT LAW ENFORCEMENT CLARIFICATION
FROM THE FOREST SUPERVISOR

We feel you should know that there were two erroneous messages reported on a local television station concerning the enforcement of changes in where wheeled motorized vehicles can travel in the Eldorado National Forest.

1) Our emphasis is resource protection and public education. We will be issuing citations for violations, as appropriate (it was erroneously reported that we would not be issuing citations).

2) The Court Order, Forest Order, and Recreation Opportunity Guide (found on this website) all make it clear that wheeled motorized vehicles are restricted to system roads and trails managed for motorized vehicles; vehicles are PROHIBITED from driving off of roads (it was reported that vehicles could be DRIVEN up to two vehicles lengths off the road – this is not so). People who are camping or parking must "park on a route that is shown on the free-of-charge Motor Vehicle Restrictions map as open for motorized vehicles (or within a reasonable distance so as not to block the roadway, create a safety hazard, or cause resource damage). You may not travel beyond gates and barriers."

I hope the above information is helpful in clarifying these issues.

That's it, no more wheeling in CA, that's where this is going.
They have it so vague that you will be cited either if you are too far out or because you parked in the way of traffic.
Good luck guys.

You get rangers that are cool if you don't give them crap, and you get ones that you want to, well, something unpleasant. It's luck of the draw. When the FS gets around to shutting down almost everything in ELDO county, the con will be lined with rigs, and will be a parking lot (worse than usual) Then will come the video surveillance and shock collars.....

Your supposed to have a fire permit, at least one in the group.....but there are fire restrictions in effect.

•Anyone checked the weather? I checked it for South Lake Tahoe (it’s about the same elevation right?) and it said low 80’s during the day and low 40’s at night. That sound about right?

Im bringing shorts and jeans, tshirts and hoodies. If Im cold I have Jerry to keep me warm.

Not I my run flats create a 36" tire. So f it.

•As far as tools go…did anyone ever find out if there’ll be a welder amongst us? I’m bringing the normal hand tools and an air impact gun.

I believe Kyles got your back.

•Will there be lakes or streams to take a dive into or fish in?

Second night we should be camping next to/on a lake. Im thinking about diving in to atleast get somewhat cleaner and freeze my balls off.

Nate,
I'm glad you asked those questions. Now we have more than an answer.
I would think that the FS tour through will be good. Our club will be on our best behavior, like always :eyebrows: . at least it will show the area is wheeled by wheelers.

I'm bringing: a two burner stove, 16"x10"webergasgrill, metal grill, pots-n-pans, & a portaLoo :pain:
& Fishin Stuff.

:burt: coffee on everyday!
