Trying to plan for the next couple months on getting a slide-in camper for my silverado.
I can't afford a new one so looking for a used one...but I don't want an old one...more modern the better...

There's a place in town selling a new pop-up one like you want for super cheap, under $5k for sure, maybe even lower than that. The thing has been on the lot for at least 8 months so they're probably dying to get rid of it.

Look at the inside.. If you see where it has leaked anywhere.. Run away from it.. They use cheap ass wood on them and when they leak they rot..

Thanks guys
Ya I don't have the $$ yet but just trying to get some research/info on what to look for and when to run-away hahaha. The newer the better.
Doesn't have to be a pop up but can't be a full blown 11.5ftr eaither
Sure wish I could hit the lottery, I would buy a diesel pusher motorhome to tow my K5 to Utah and werever....
Hey Shag if you pass buy it again try and get a brand name off of it so I can look up the mfg on the internet :2thumbs:

Check under the bed area or any kind of mold on the outside and if the area under the bed is soft or saging...My dad used to fix campers and that is the worst spot to have dry rot...BUT it is a easy fix too if the camper is cheap enough
If you buy one get some roof sealer (that white paste like stuff) and roll some on around the vents and ALL roof openings to stop any open areas that might already be there..

Burt-- Jen and I were looking at used units, but couldnt feel "comfortable" in someones old filth! All the campers we looked at were abused, smelly, and kinda felt like a cheap hotel room, Our host slideout camper is the best investment Ive made, low monthly payment is what turned me onto gettting a new one,

most camper lots have one camper from last years model, they have on sale, :pimp2: just marked down.
Like the guys above said, look them over close.
the one on sale is the one with a leak.
that's the one I bought, its now my storage shed.
My Motorhome has retired the old doghouse after 30years in use.
all I have to say is, get all the latest stuff; you never know when it may
become your home.

Can you give me an idea of what a camper like yours costs, and what kind of financing is offered on it? :thumb:

Eventually I’d like to have one. Put that in the back of the rig and tow the K5….good times!!!! I knew a guy about 7 years ago that had one and it was killer!!! He’d take it wheeling all the time and it was actually pretty big inside.

About the cost of my camper,,,,, well its kinda like this
1. camping on the hard bumpy ground--- 100.00 tent 75$ sleeping bag
2. running to the woods or out house in the middle of the night for the bathroom----$3 roll of toliet paper
3. having a warm secure place to rest your head--- priceless!!!! :D
All kidding aside, these campers are not cheap. We chose a daul slide from Host built to order. The financing is really good because its considered a living est and so they make the terms super long. I think our payments like 170 a month for the rest of my life! J/K  I wanted to buy new because then you can have it built to suit. We picked all the options that we wanted and skipped the ones we didnt. We added windows and ditched the rear bumper, stuff like that. We also deleted the tv package and saved $$ then went to best buy and got a flat screen and a dvd for 1/4 the cost of there generic stuff. My girl loves to go camping now its great!
