I thought you'd guys get a kick out of this since most of you are Bay Area and know all about the Craiglist flakes.

So, I need a drivers side fender for my 87 GM full size. I find "Mike" on Craigslist who has a pair in Vacaville for $30 each. I told him I'd take both for asking price and ask if I can come up late that night (Thursday), like 11 - 12 PM. He says sure, he's got some shopping to do after work anyways.

So, I gotta go from S.F. to a lock supplier in Oakland, go install 2 locks for a client, have dinner with the girlfriend and pal and then see "Mike".

I hit the freeway at about 4:30 and it is slooooow. Girlfriend calls at about 5:00 to say dinner is canceled. Well, I still need to do the locks and see my buddy "Mike". At about 5:30 I'm still not even at the Bay Bridge, I know there is no way I can make it to the lock supplier before they close at 6PM, but hey, I'm in this trip 1 hour already, so, I'll still see "Mike".

I call "Mike" and tell him I'll be up earlier. He says, "Cool Dude, I'll be finished shopping at about 8PM". I tell him that will be about the time I get there with the kind of traffic I'm seeing.

Pick up the girlfriend in Oakland and away we go. We hit Vacaville at 8PM (yes, 3.5 hours from S.F. to Vacaville with one stop for girlfriend and yes, it only takes 1 hour in good traffic). I call "Mike" and he says he's about 15 min. from home. I tell him to call when he is there since we are about 5 min. from his place at the Vacaville Outlets.

Girlfriend shops, "Mike" doesn't call, I start to worry. At 9PM the shops close and I try to reach Mike. We go to dinner and call again, no answer. At 10PM we leave and head to his house. Right as I pull up my phone rings and he says he went wheelin' and got stuck and now needs a tug to get out. As the conversation progresses his situation changes to he is now broken down and needs a tow. Whatever, I need my fenders and a good nights sleep. I tell him I'll knock on the door and get the goods from his folks. He tells me they are asleep. I tell him I drove for 3.5 hours in the rain and I'm sure his parents (like all parents) would gladly get out of bed at 10PM to get rid of their sons junk in the garage. Well, now Mike tells me the fenders are at work and not home. I'm stating to realize I've really been screwed. I try to grasp onto any thread of his story and hope that he might come through. I tell him I'll hang out for a while and to call when he is "unstuck" or "towed".

I never hear from "Mike", so, at 11:50PM, I call. He answers, half asleep. It's dead quiet where ever he is, no sound of tow trucks ... or tow straps ... or friends trying to help him put. But, he claims he's still stuck and has no idea when he'll be home.

I left. Dropped off girlfriend and got home at 1:30 AM. 9 hours wasted, $6 in bridge tolls, you figure the gas in a 7000# dually 4x4 w/ a 454.

I wonder how long "Mike" woulda BSed me? What if I told him I would spend the night and catch him in the AM, what would his excuse have been then?

Every once in a while you hear about a guy getting the crap kicked out of him for "no reason". You can bet there is usually a reason.
Lucky for "Mike" he doesn't post on Pirate!

Anyone got a drivers side GM full size fender :(

Happy Holidays!

Sounds like you got "wenzled"!!!! :D

That sucks bro...I hate flakes like that....makes you want to wait outside their house and have a "talk" with them doesn't it?

Good luck man.

He was off getting some from his man.
I would of been pissed and prob knocked on the door regaurdless. Then I would explain to his parents what a tool thier son is and offer to take all his junk that is pissing them off and in thier way. When "mike" comes back home the next day he sees that all his junk is gone im sure he would be made cuz now he cant make usless posts on craigslist trying to sell his junk and fuck people over.

I shoulda knocked on his door. I didn't think of that until about 1/2 way home. Something else dawned on me - was it just a coincidence that he called right as I pulled up to his house or do you think he saw me and figured he had to do something quick to keep me from knocking on the door?

This wasn't the best way to kick off the Christmas weekend.

I thouht about posting his info. That won't get me a fender ... or the 9 hours I spent back! And I doubt it would make him open his eyes and change his ways. I will say if you ever want to buy something from a "Mike" in Vacaville who lives on Garnet Ct. ... make sure he delivers!

You mean Mike Guerrieri at 600 Garnet ct, 95688-9286 phone number 707-451-9832?

...ooops.

Dude,

How did you figure that out? Do you know him? Is he an OK guy who just had a bad day or is he always like this? If you posted his info., I'm assuming he's always like this. Well hell, I guess the Carma Gods wanted his info. to be known. I won't comment, because I'm too busy trying to find a FENDER!!!

Yeah, I think he does live with his Mom. He did say his MOM was asleep at 10 PM, he didn't say his parents.

What's going on here ... you guys moonlight as CSI? How are you all figuring this stuff out?

(Mental note, don't ever screw anyone on the Nor Cal Board!)

12-23-2005, 05:27 PM
Well I know how Ray is figuring this out, or atleast have a good idea. And I know to not mess with that guy.

All I did was pop the dudes phone number into google and it showed a micheal and lori with the number. 9 times out of 10 the guy would have the phone listed under his name or both of thiers names. Since it shows her, Im assuming that its just his mom.

jays68yak

Ok well Ray just shot down my whole assumption. :p

Eric M.

Wow,

Very impressive. Now you've got me curious. Maybe I'll make that call. I wonder what is going on there?

It's probably a good thing I never got it the house.

Here's the link to his Craigslist post:

http://www.craigslist.org/sfc/pts/116574716.html

Go there and flag it, check the box marked "prohibited" in the upper right hand corner. If you get 5 flags (or something like that) the post is automatically deleted.

I scan Craigslist regularly and will post up any more of his posts to be flagged. At least this way we can keep him from doing the same to others.

Thanks everyone,

Eric M.

Woops, now it looks like you have his e-mail and cel phone # too!!

Well,

Issam just called and is hooking me up with a fender. Sacramento is a little further than Vacaville, but at least I know someone will be there to meet me when I arrive. :thumb:

I don't think I'll waste anymore time with Mike ... or Andrew, other than flagging his Craigslist posts, but that is more of a community service!

Eric M.

Eric M.
12-23-2005, 06:24 PM
We can probably get that relayed closer, unless you are under a deadline.

His last craigslisting has been pulled.
Keep posting them, and I'll help you flag.

And I know it isn't a fender, but hopefully it helps put some of the shine back in your Christmas season.

Merry Christmas Eric.

Thanks guys,

Yeah, I do feel better. It wasn't so much the fender as someone doing something like that to me, incredibly disrespectful of anothers persons time.

Issam isn't to far from my brothers place. I'll use the trip up there as an excuse to see my nieces and have a good dinner!

Happy Holidays,

Eric M.

About three weeks ago I made a deal with a guy off of craiglist.. He was in sac. His name was Mike also. We where going to trade my Tmaxx for his PSP. We made the deal one friday night and I was going to sac the next day anyways.. He said call him when I get up there.. I never did get his address.. I call him when I was there.. I said he was busy so wait about 45 minutes and call him back.. OK I do.. I call him he says to head back on 80 and he will call me in 10 minutes. And to not go over 65 MPH other wise I will miss his exit. 20 minutes later and I am almost in Davis I call him back.. He says I missed his turn off, To turn around. That he has somebody at his house right then looking at it. But he doesn't think the guy is going to buy it. He says he will call me back and to go to a certain exit and wait for his call. I do and wait there for 40 minutes.. I call him back he says he will call me back in 15 minutes.. I wait.another 30 minutes and then try and call him and it goes straight to voice mail.. I left him the dirtyest voice mail message I have ever left for wasting almost 3 hours of my time.. When I got home I email bombed him has well. He was just a freakin jerk.

This guy really got screwed off of craigslist..

The laptop notebook pictured below was stollen from me this evening at gun-point! Someone responded to my add and made arrangements to meet me at an address in Union City. 2 Asian young men ages 18-23 y/o met me in front of the house, pulled a gun and took my laptop w/ bag and my wallet. Police report was filed and bank cards were cancelled. Upon cancelling the bank cards, the perps got stupid and I got lucky! The bank said that the card was used 10 min prior at a Union 76 station and 5 min later at a Jack-in-the-Box (dumb asses). I gave police this information and they went to these 2 locations and obtained surveillance video. They assured me that an arrest will be made in a few days max.

My worst fears came true this evening because I didn't follow some commonsense rules.
1. Never make arrangements to meet anyone anywhere except your place with other people around.
2. A well lit public place with other people around.
3. If something sounds fishy on the phone or in email, follow your instincts!!!

Perps discription: One about 5'8" tall, S.E. Asian, short hair, light colored long sleeve shirt buttoned up to the neck, dark colored pants.
The other was about 5'2" short, also S.E. Asian, did'nt notice his clothes.
They are possible gang members and have no accents. Spoke in slang (wanna-be gangstas).

These guys will be grabbing ankels for some dude in the pen real soon!

Laptop disc: Compaq EVO N610C, 14" display, 30Gig H/D, Pentium 4(M)@ 2.0gHz, 512meg of RAM, wireless, DVD/CD-RW.

Who ever buys this laptop knowingly or otherwise will be associated w/ an ARMED ROBBERY!!!!

I fell for one of those "Meet me here" kinda deals when I was younger. learned my lesson, if it seems too good to be true, it isn't. Lucky all I lost was my money. But, those were the good 'ol days when tough guys used there fists and not guns. I wasn't a tough guy ... so, no sense in losing my money, pride AND teeth!

Looking back, I've had a lot of run ins with guys trying to steel stuff or selling hot items. Life in the city ....

I went and visited my mom in and family in Fresno over the holidays. MAN I hate that place. I don't miss it one bit. Saw John's gun shot wound....nasty. He is up doing well though. They shot him with a 9mm solid round, lucky not a hollow point or a .22 Shot him in the back, the most chicken shit thing I think you could do. When I think it sucks here I just remember back to living in Fresno, no comparison, life is good now. I used to carry a 357 magnum cause I had pissed off some wannabe gang members in my apt complex, actually had to brandish it to em once, tell you what when you know someone wants to get ya its not a nice feeling. The gun sure made em turn tail and run. If more law abiding people were allowed to carry and protect themselves I think the thugs would think twice before screwing with people. The new no guns in SF law cracks me up, great tell all the criminals no one will be armed now, after all the criminals abide by gun laws too right?

Russian or Chinese?

barbastard
01-05-2006, 05:35 PM
I’ve got an SKS. It’s a Russian one. Made in 1952 at the toluka (spelling?) armaments plant.

I’ve modified the SHIT out of it. Zytel dragunov stock, muzzle brake, recoil buffer, scope, tripod, colored iron sights, and a BUNCH of clips. But, shhhhhhh…don’t tell the gun nazi’s here in CA…I’d probably get in trouble.

It’s a pretty fun gun to shoot. I don’t find it to be extremely accurate and the scope is more or less worthless. But for what it is, a basic infantry/assault weapon built to handle the rigors and abuse of being in the field carried by an infantryman through the mud, water and dirt and still being called upon to lay down a lot of lead in a general area…..it works just fine. The Russians knew/know how to build a very durable, tough and dependable weapon.

Now…an M16 or the .223 US rifle….that’s a GREAT gun. Very accurate right out of the box. My buddy brought one on a camping trip with me to the high lakes about 6 years ago. I shot the .223 and then my SKS….HUGE difference. His was bone stock and I was hitting shit with his that mine wasn’t even coming close too.

If we ever get together to do the Nor Cal shooting trip, I’ll try and bring my SKS. WE’ll have some fun!!!

Hoss

you can get sks's for under 200 in san jose from sportsman supply

CaptainInsano
01-05-2006, 09:59 PM
The SKS is definitely not too accurate, but fun nonetheless and gets the job done for its purpose. Not many moving parts to get screwed up too. I shot my buddies AR15 a long time ago, damn what a difference in guns.

CaptainInsano
01-06-2006, 02:04 AM
Mine was a china crapola model. Sold it to the sheriff in fresno for more than I paid for it during the no questions buyback. Then I sold all the goodies (folding stock, scope, clips) to the local jerk off gun shop. All in all I made about a hundred bucks off a gun that was 120 new.
