I have been talking with Dunerunner and him and I are wanting to go up to the snow for a weekend and just chill...
So We are thinking of going the 10th-13th of Feb..Anyone want to go..
It isnt a Hardcore run just running up to here..where it says boardscrossing

And camp here..

There is sourgrass trail there that might be fun in the snow but isnt hard core (again) more of a get away from the burbs weekend and have a little fun at the camp fire..
This is a few pics from that trail when it is dry..

This would require your truck to be running. :flipoff2:
You still wanna ride with me to the Hammers Feb 2nd or 3rd to the 6th?

That would be awesome but at 5 hours and 279 miles one way, it makes it not so awesome. Is the road to the campground paved? Is it plowed? Just wondering. Maybe I can take the motorhome and the kids if it's an accesible campground.

The road to the campground is paved..You turn off at dorrington on the map and the broardscrossing is the bridge in the pics which is where the camp ground is there..Depwnding on the snow on the ground it would be a butt pucker down hill ride..i.e steep to the bottom sharp 10mp turns..But it is paved..lol , I belive it is plowed to the bridge but no farther..
And the campground has a enclosed bathrooms too... :2thumbs:

I won't drive that beast on the snow yet. But depending on the road conditions at that time I may head up there and just hang out in the campground with the kids. I'm sure you all can pull me threw the snow to at least get me to camp. Then you can drag me out too. :2thumbs:

I would like to leave friday sometime but dunerunner is up at clearlake till tuesday,,But he said he would be down for any weekend in Feb...
I want to make this clear this is not a hard core run but more of a get out of town thing..If the gate is open then we can blast the fire roads all around there(there are a lot)..
I will have some firewood and can get more if needed :2thumbs:

I have to put a hold on this trip...
I just talked with my brother to see if he wanted to go and he ran up there last weekend and told me that the forest service has changed the camp area to a day use only.. and the logging company has posted signs just up the road from the "day use area" that says no camping four wheeling motorcycling and what not,He stopped at the rangers station on the way back to see what is up with the changes but they were closed.. :pain:

Well if it's just me and you then I might wait till end of february and yes I know some places by Grass valley about an hour from here.

Grass valley would be awsome because I could drive up the night before and stay with my brother in roseville. I'm pretty much an open book for weekends so I'll let you pick the weekend and we can go from there.

If you want to go in the end of fed or begining of march I could do that..
I do not know any other roads that will be passable that late in the season but would like to go for a day trip ( I think more of a scouting trip) and I will be going up to the spot I was talking about before then to see what the deal is :2thumbs:

There is a great place just out of sonora, Cherry Lake that I have been to recently on a snow run which leaves it wide open as to what you want to do up there. I will be up for going once I find a set of doors for my toyota, cause its just a tad cold without them.

A year ago I went up there wheelin in the summer with some friends, it was super hot. We got back in there and found this awesome looking lake. We decide to go swimming, right before I am about to jump off this rock into the clear cool looking water I notice all these little critters swimming around. I yell to Jim hey dude there is a bunch of...too late, he dives in... He comes out about a minute later...with 5 leeches on him. It was funny shit, glad I didn't jump in.
Dunno what the heck this has to do with snow, but the place reminded me of the story. Your snowmen will become leech habitat in the spring. :)

Only been to the lake once in the summer but didnt get in, didn't really even get close to it we had the quads up there. But we have never got close to the lake on the snow runs its like 30 miles back there.

Red chevy do you have any maps or directions to this place so we can go check it out for a possible run? That would be a good middle ground for the peeps in lodi/modesto who might want to run..
