I have to check and see if we're having T-day dinner with my dad's mom or not, she's got terminal cancer so this will most likely be her last. I can't be missing that.

Otherwise, whichever, I'm down.

Maybe I'll tow down Wednesday, leave the trailer and rig Thursday night and come back late that evening.

If we don't end up going to Pismo (shit....can't believe I'm actually saying that) for T-day weekend count me in. Right now it's still looking pretty sure that we'll be in Pismo though.

There's a good chance we won't be going to pismo. If that's the case, then count me in for at least one day of wheeling at HH and most likely I'd stay for one night. Can we go wheelin now?

Well…looks like I’m out for HH. :(

Plans have flip flopped yet again (I give you one guess as to who’s creating the “flip-flopping” ) and we are back on for Pismo. Seems as though the lure of sleeping in pimped out toy haulers, riding in bad ass sand rails and eating like a champ while doing all the above was just to much to pass up on (at least this time).

So have a great time guys, be safe, take lots of pictures and do everything I would do if I were there. :2thumbs:

Sounds like the next trip I will be going on with your douche bags will be the hammers….

Sorry buddy….I knew you’d be pissed at me. :(

But, I’ve finally got an engine that might be somewhat capable in the sand and we’ve got a “taj mahal on wheels” to stay in so it’s an opportunity we can’t pass up. Plus, throw in the sand rails and quads and that just sweetens the deal. I’ll try my hand at Pismo once and go from there. I still don’t think I’ll enjoy driving MY (your truck, ryans truck or any of the rails is a different story :pimp2: ) truck in Pismo that much but it’s worth one shot. Who knows…if I like it maybe I’ll cruise with you guys when you go on Memorial day. Now…once I finally get around to building the 4 seat dual purpose buggy…that’ll be a different story. :2thumbs:

I’m bummed I won’t be down at HH with you guys but I’m sure you’ll manage. Have some Jack and Coke’s for me and show TT what you guys are made of. Hopefully it’ll be somewhat drivable and not like it was at BF.

I wanna hear and see some good video of that LS2 getting on it!!!

Well with some time off and a 4 day weekend it was time to go out and get some wheeling in even if it's a short local trip.

Jason and I towed down the half hour to Hollister Hills Wednesday night after closing up the shop and finishing up some last minute maintenance and leaving Kevin to keep working on wiring up his new LS2. Lucky us it rained all day and misted and was foggy headed in through the hills. We made it in safe though, joined a fire already going and hit the hay pretty early.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c299/bggrnchevy/TurkeyDay%2008/TurkeyDay008.jpg

Woke up the next morning to a lot of mud and general soupyness. Jason and I went unloaded and wheeled around a little before we both jetted off to go join our respective Turkey dinners.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c299/bggrnchevy/TurkeyDay%2008/TurkeyDay013.jpg

We got back that night and Kevin had pulled in late that afternoon. Travis and his Scout pulled up late that evening. Jason found a friend who he brought over to hang out.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c299/bggrnchevy/TurkeyDay%2008/TurkeyDay015.jpg

The next morning I had to reheat my Hot Pocket breakfast and what better than using the fire we already had?

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c299/bggrnchevy/TurkeyDay%2008/TurkeyDay016.jpg

Eventually I just put the foil in the coals, but I thought it a funny effort.

We all headed out and ran up to the obstacle course. Jason shoved his rig through squeeze rock with a bit of tire air time.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c299/bggrnchevy/TurkeyDay%2008/TurkeyDay019.jpg

Andrew showed up with his DD and played in the mud for a while including plastering Trav and myself with mud.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c299/bggrnchevy/TurkeyDay%2008/TurkeyDay024.jpg

We ran Jungle after that but to be honest we just pulled straight through without much pause so no pictures.

We headed back to camp and stacked up for a throwback pic.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c299/bggrnchevy/TurkeyDay%2008/TurkeyDay021.jpg

I've got a pic from 3-4 years ago with some of the same rigs in previous builds all lined up on the same tree.

Had to take a shot of mine.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c299/bggrnchevy/TurkeyDay%2008/TurkeyDay020.jpg

After that we waited up for Ryan while Kevin and Jason ran Blue Bunny, or tried from what I hear. The muck made it impassible at the very end which required a turnaround during which Kevin put his on it's side. He says he stopped it with his foot somehow but Jason's version has more to do with hitting the brakes.

Night ensued and partiage commenced. It got pretty cold that night, all the firewood definitely got burned up.

The next morning we went up to the obstacle course to scout Tank Trap a bit and Kevin proceeded to get stuck in frame twister.

After some quick yankage we migrated to the beginning of Tank (I left my rig up top). The first waterfall was the toughest this time around and caused quite the fair amount of entertainment. Kevin stepped up first bucked and hopped but eventually pulled a line to avoid snappage.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c299/bggrnchevy/TurkeyDay%2008/TurkeyDay034.jpg
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c299/bggrnchevy/TurkeyDay%2008/TurkeyDay037.jpg

Capt. Throttle lived up to his SN and bounced and hopped until he popped sideways into the wall and broke a long side inner D60 shaft on his ProRock.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c299/bggrnchevy/TurkeyDay%2008/TurkeyDay040.jpg

Kristen gave it a shot but with the 44's and 30 spline stubs in an effort to keep more breakage down pulled a line too.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c299/bggrnchevy/TurkeyDay%2008/TurkeyDay044.jpg

Jason gave it a hard run but pulled eventually too. Even if he was messing with the winch spoolout when I was trying to hook him up.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c299/bggrnchevy/TurkeyDay%2008/TurkeyDay045.jpg

Ryan was the last up and was pretty determined to haul up unassisted. We just about had to load up pyrotechnics for the ramp jump for him. After a couple tire bouncing runs he bumped it hard and managed to claw his way up.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c299/bggrnchevy/TurkeyDay%2008/TurkeyDay050.jpg
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c299/bggrnchevy/TurkeyDay%2008/TurkeyDay051.jpg

After that there was some donutage from Ryan and Kevin and I managed to finish off what had apparently been making noise the day before.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c299/bggrnchevy/TurkeyDay%2008/TurkeyDay055.jpg

Trav and I headed back and loaded up while Kevin, Jason and Ryan went back to the obstacle course.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c299/bggrnchevy/TurkeyDay%2008/TurkeyDay054.jpg

We ended up pulling away after dark in convoy. Good trip overall!

Hopefully the last trip before I can care less about where I jam my rig.

Looks like you guys had a blast…I knew you would. Figured it’d be nice and cold and muddy for you guys too.

How was TT after the first waterfall? Was it passable? How about that spot where Mark broke at BF?

Pismo was a lot of fun….VERY VERY VERY different from what I’m used to but we had a blast. Did some 2nd gear passes in a 2332VW sandrail with a Turbo going about 65mph with the front wheels about 3’ in the air….was fucking awesome!!!! Those things are WICKED fast. Brought the blazer and it did ok. Had plenty of power but didn’t have the suspension to keep up with it…I damn near rattled the entire front clip off the truck. I’d like to go back and play in Pismo again…although next time with either a sand rail or a dual purpose “buggy crawler/rail” rig with the suspension to handle it.
