Awh come on man you know there's nothing quite like the rush of flying through the dunes playing around in the bowls... of course there's the rust factor....
I'm normally all for Pismo BUT since camping passes are sold out and I didn't snag one I'd be up for a memorial day trail run instead of the dunes.
I hunted and found some 57's out of the back of a clean '94 Ford F150 today so I should be good to go in a week or two.

I might be up for this, Frizz.
I did some wheeling last summer in the Shaver Lake area, and really liked it. I might be looking for something that is a cross between "real" wheeling and camping.
I took my Girlfriend up there last year, and she liked Bald Mountain a LOT more than the Red Lake and Swamp runs. She liked the easier pace, and the nice scenery at the top.
Also, we have a mutual friend here for a few months from China, and he has always wanted to go wheeling, so a Shaver Lake area trip might fit the bill (you can go easier or harder).
What will the weather be like around that time?
Will there still be snow on the ground?
Where were you thinking of camping? Last time we camped in a spot down one of those fire roads to the right on 168 about a mile or so from Huntington Lake.

Update....I'm out on this one.
The prego wife isn't up for camping and wheeling during month 7 (or is 8??) of her pregnancy. So...this one got axed. I told her I could go with out her....my back still hurts from sleeping on the garage floor that night.

Gonna try and get out somewhere for a day trip next month. June is out completely. July will be BF (I'll be there solo and the wife may come down with Jr. for the day or for dinner and then go back home). August is the Con. September....who knows???

Sounds like a plan... I'm off to see if I can get a longer brake-line and 1350 u-bolts for my rear end... all I need after that is a fresh set of shims and some limiting straps and I'll be good to go.

This is a pretty long drive for me for a day, but I haven't wheeled this year, so I'd like to try to join if possible. What day(s) is this being considered? And are folks camping? I guess you guys live in Fresno and the like. I did Bald Mountain (and Swamp and Red Lake, etc) last summer and it was a haul to get there from the Bay.

Looks like a day run up to Bald Saturday May 23.We can meet at Rock Creek Rd. and Dinky Creek Rd. .That is near the trailhead and you can unload trailers and park there :pimp2:
Snow should be just about gone and there wont be alot of dust :thumb:
