It's actually 3 months.....but I won't fault your enthusiasm. :flipoff2:
It is sneaking up on us. I'm not sure if I can add the new section or not. If I can, I will. Otherwise it's probably Jason, Shaggy or Dan.
You bring up good questions....What has been done and what can we help with?

Damn J months and being overly enthusiastic :uh oh:
In any case, I just want to make sure Dan knows we're happy to have another BF and willing to help it be the fun time it always is.

Sweet.
This is one of those trips out of the year that i know for sure i will be making... and looking foreward to it as well..
:2thumbs:
I plan on showing up Thursday the 16th - Sunday the 19th.
Thanks again to Dan and his family for doing all the hard work every year for blazerfest. It is much appriciated by all.
If theres anything i can do to help, as always i will be more than happy to help.. go by 4wheel farts and south bay driveline. ?
Burbanbeavis, I think Nate got the keg the last few years or at least brought his jockey box or whatever, charged people something like $5 depending on how much you drink..
I just need to fix my Deathwobble so i don't have to break tradition of driving the rig out there, and figuring out how to fix it to drive it home.
hey brokefront blazer i got the 16th off also like we talked about at bowling !

It's getting closer people!!  :pain:
Any new word on some great ideas like these..
I would be willing for some one to just give me a job and I'll make sure it happens.
1.) I found out about you guys from CK5. I joined on CK5 because it is the easiest place to find on the web that deals primarily with these types of trucks. And I found you all through a post on that (two years ago for BF, actually).
2.) The members from this community have a good reputation on CK5. 4x4High, for example, is a well respected member there, and he has helped me more than once. Thanks Scott!
3.) I am happy to support local clubs. I have enjoyed meeting you all both of the last two years, and I tried to buy a large number of raffle tickets to support the club. I have bought t-shirts and always paid well in advance of the actual BF.
4.) I personally would join either Niagra, or HH (or most any other place), but I am set up to do so. Not everyone is set up to handle long trips (or even short ones these days!).
5.) I think you could expand your base quite a bit if you "advertised" a little on Pirate and CK5. Put up a post or three in the regional forums there and invite people who aren't in the club, and you'd probably get quite a few. Make sure you explain that both club and non-club members are welcome. I felt very welcome for the first BlazerFest, but I was nervous heading into it (I didn't know anyone, and didn't want to be laughed at). I think putting language that explicitly invites people of all skill levels would be very good.
6.) You should consider adding a couple of "seminars" perhaps to BF as a way to get newer folks involved. For example, some of you experts could design a few free seminars on something like:
-Winching 101 - how to get unstuck!
-Ever wonder how to use a Hi-Lift?
-Replacing U-joints on the trail
-Cooking meals on camping trips.
-Trails of the Bay Area - a Primer (brig some maps and do a live session talking about each one)
-Tire Tech - How to break the bead and replace a tire in the field and how to patch sidewalls in an emergency.
Those are just a few silly ideas. But one of the time tested ways to bring folks in is to offer them knowledge. Giving some of the younger wheelers in the area a reason to come meet you is a GREAT way to lure them in.
Remember it is those interpersonal interactions that make liftime bonds. Burt will remember me for my Steve Irwin Impression. I will remember Darren for.. well.. lots of shit. And I remember Nate and Cathy for sharing their Pork Rinks with me!
7.) You could also consider weaving some of the tech sessions in with some of the vendors on here. Kevin could put on a welding class. Jesse could bring some of his bumpers and show people how they are built or whatever. One of you could explain how to design a roll cage (which, of course, those new folks would come buy from you at the shop). But it is that offering of free knowledge that brings people in, and brings them together.
Just some thoughts. I enjoy spending time with all of you. You are a friendly bunch, and I'll attend BF this year again.

I read this post and thought, as I read through it) YEAH! That is what I was thinking! And then as a read further, I realized... I actually WROTE that! And I actually laughed out loud.

I am glad my diatribe was so memorable it got reused weeks later!
Obviously, I agree with all that. :)

Firstly, I am not a member, so my "vote" doesn't count as much, but I figured I might chime in on some of the things Frizz said.

Dan you had some great ideas.

If we want a turn out people just must stumble onto the sight and do the research to find out what it's about and search for the dates.

That's IF we even have one. There is a whole lot of slacking going on for an event that is less than 2 months away with a ton of stuff to accomplish in order to make it happen. There is another post with people wanting to know what's going on and if help is needed somewhere. :(

Rest assured that BF10 will happen this year. I expect some information within the next 24-48 hours and will post up when I hear something. It's very likely that in order to make this happen the WHOLE club is going to have chip in and help to get stuff taken care of. In the next day or two I or another BOD will provide a list of items that we'll need help completing. Without a doubt though, if we want any sort of raffle this year the entire club is going to have to contact vendors that they know of to donate items.
Stay tuned.

We can all start doing our part by emailing, calling, and/or sending letters to whatever vendors we can think of to donate something to the raffle.

"Hi, can I have some fee stuff"
That's the truth. I would like to make some calls but that's really what you say. Is there a way to sound legit? Do we get these free things shipped to our homes then bring it?
How about Some Better info as to what goes on during Blazerfest?
Need a sticky with all the info.
Poker run, ramp, cattered diner, How much??
I have friends that want to go and I can't tell this to all of them and it sound believable. It needs to be read by those that don't know.
Maybe some more things could be planned as to show that ALL skilled levels are welcome.
Ex. Tire repair.......Lighter fluid thing is cool
winching
spotting
Trail repair ideas.

The exact cost of BF is being figured out as we speak and it should be posted up (hopefully) next week. At that time I’ll start accepting payments for it. Payment will cover your camping fees, costs for the catered BBQ on Saturday night and 5 free raffle tickets. Stay tuned…. :2thumbs:
You guys are all asking good and legitimate questions….I guess I just assume that everyone knows what BF is all about after having it go on for so long and I forget that not everyone has been to one. So…I’ll do my best to give a run down here of the major parts of BF:
Friday
People start arriving (some people actually start showing up Thursday and even Wednesday sometimes but we won’t be able to camp at area 5…so you’ll be on your own to arrange and pay for camping at the other 2 campgrounds in the lower ranch if you get there before Friday) to area 5. Area 5 is a reserved camp area that big groups get to use. It has showers, bathrooms, picnic tables, a bbq pit and a stage and seating area where we have the raffle. This area will be completely reserved for us and us alone from the 17th-19th. Once you get to area 5 you’ll need to hook up with one of the board of directors (BOD’s…their screen names are green) and they’ll give you a wristband, your raffle tickets and at that point you can purchase more tickets if you like (please do!!). Other than that…Friday is pretty much a free for all…do whatever you want. Wheel, chill, whatever…there’s no plans for that day. Friday night usually brings with it late arrivals, libations :drunk: , and shenanigans :rotflmao: :2fingers: around many of the camp fires.
Saturday
There’s a poker run early to mid morning. More details will follow on this the morning of. There’s usually a group photo in the late afternoon/early evening and than that’s followed by dinner which for the past few years has been catered by a kick ass bbq joint (Mansmiths). During the day go wheel or do whatever you like. That evening after dinner we’ll hold the raffle….following the raffle it’s more libations  :drunk: :puke2: and further shenanigans.
Sunday
Usually everyone departs rather early but some people stay and wheel. But, we have to be out of group 5 that day.
We’ll have an RTI ramp to flex your rig out on and usually enough spare parts and tools to build at least 2 more rigs. Fires are allowed but only in the fire pits. No pallets can be burned unless they’re broken down. Everyone is responsible for cleaning up their own camp area and leaving it in as good of condition if not better than when we got there. The club has to pay a deposit and if the rangers find something they don’t like or that has been broken or damaged while we’re there…we don’t get it back and are liable for the balance of the costs for repairs. NO DRINKING AND WHEELING! There are rangers that watch and they will catch you..I’ve seen it happen first hand. If you want to drink…go ahead and do so…but no more wheeling for you that day. If you get caught it’s a DUI for you and the club will not be able to hold this event at HH anymore. Needless to say…bad repercussions will follow.
I’m sure I’ve left out stuff so anyone else feel free to post up. I’ve been going to this event since 2001 or 2002 and it’s always a blast. :pimp2:
way to go nate ty for getting the info !

Last year Dan sent me a bunch of flyers and club info to give to the stores for raffle items. I was talking to Mike (daddysblazer74) today and we are going to try and meet up either tonight or tomorrow afternoon and get a flyer for raffle items made up(stores need this for thier records - tax deductions) the only thing we need to know is what is the clubs offical mailing address so we can put that on the flyer with the club info.
Also on saturday afternoon there is normally a tank trap run (lets start this on early so we don't miss dinner this year)

if need be, i would be willing to do a "walk through" with the rangers and area 5 when i get there on thursday and when i leave on sunday.
in the past years, i usually do a quick drive around and make sure no trash is left and that area 5 is cleaner than when we arrived.
