I would like to set up at least 2 organized runs this year maybe three... 1 for the jungle trail and one for tank trap.. Willyswanter and kidjethro would you two like to head up the tank trap?? RyanB and jays68yak would you two like to set up the jungle trail.. Maybe also just a site seeing one that goes around the whole park.. Not the black diamond trails but just around the park.. Any two people like to head up that run???

Ok but I'd like to run all three so don't schedule them at the same time...

Sounds good to me. :)
And like Jason said....I want to run them all too. :pimp2:
There really should be some basic requirements for the Trap though. Basically, we don't want an open front and rear rig with no winch, stuck and broke in the canyon section. :pain:

ok.. maybe you and jason can set up some basic equipment and guide lines for the trap and Ryan and jay can set up one for the jungle trail. A list like to expect body damage and mud things like that..

I can't commit from now for anything but I might be willing to do the guide for the easy trails.
I will know more in a couple of months.

This might be a bit out of line...What about making a point system or making them a timed event. And then have something in the raffle for the fastest rig through the trail, or the one with the most points.
Like on jungle. If you can make it up the crack to the right of the tree then you would get extra points. If you put on a show you get extra points. If you run it in a clown suit you get extra points. If you drive your rig backwards through it you get extra points. I dunno just a thought.

HollisterHills really frowns on all compition vents. I am surprized that they haven't shut down or poker run yet. I don't thinkwe should push our luck on any more compition events..

What is thier reasoning behind it? And then they hold top truck there each year?

The park is closed for that event and they have EMT'S standing by.

So then its not called a competition. maybe not even call it a poker run if they want to shut that down. Its a uh, "points scavanger hunt".
Sure Dan, i'll help out with jay at the jungle trail or whatever, but just like the other guys... i want to run the trails also so staggering the times so we can all play would be ideal. :2thumbs:

How woiuld the "fastest through the trail wins" thing go? Everyone would be held up by everyone else so the fastest time can only be the time of the guy in the front ofthe group.... Unless were allowed to drive over other truck :D
I'm not a big fan of the whole competition thing, I just want to run some trails...

Compition leads to fights a lot.. Not saying it will happen but it could. Plus the fact that HH doesn't like it and we are on thin ice with them anyways.. Better to not chance it.

Are we gonna beable to get the Raffle, the RTI contest, the Poker Run and these trail rides all sheduled, organized and pulled off without a hitch in the time we have to do it?

That is kind of why the third one is up in the air... Or maybe the third one witch is really just a tour of the park can be run when one of the other ones are going..

May be bad to have people racing between the events and also the general park one. You could time the traps and the jungle trail for fun. But some get pretty hot headed and then you have the point that willyswanter made about people already being on the course. If only one allowed at time then it would take a week to get through.
You know, us that would be watching those on the trap and the jungle because our vehicle just arn't up for it yet, would get bored :D . Well at least until ryanb and the sammi go blowing through pegging the rev limiter :2thumbs:

How about calling it day tours of the Park :D
Problem with timing the trails?
The few that can make the harder trail runs, will help each other along.
The Fun comes from the next guy to try a better line.
Its the lack of being timed and making sure the last one gets out.
Here is a good quote from Jay, about last weeks run thru the tank trap.
"Sunday
I think we left at about 10ish for tank. Got back at 2.
I almosted rolled it 200 yards into tank. At the same time it caught on fire.
Parked it and walked.
The rest of the way Kevin, Ryan, and Jerry were winching thier way out. "
Bet they were beat after that 5 hour trail run.
I think Jay just whats his revenge.
Jay you may need a new winchman.
Dillon how bad is that itch? catching Poison oak when its dormant usually involves cutting it up and burning it..

during the summer tank shouldnt be a prob unless we can convince HH to dump water in it.

I dont like the idea of a timed run....
1.It isnt about who can run it the fastest..I am sure there will be side runs doing that already..
2.It should be about the run and everyone having fun.. :2thumbs:

I think we should run TT and jungle and time who catches Poison oak the fastest!!! Or maybe the worst.

Actually it's usually pretty bad because top truck is a few weeks before BF. The mud holes are way saturated and usually about 3 feet deep, but look dry on top
If by some weird reason I actually get into Top Truck, then my truck will probably be too blowed up to make BF, but I'll come anyway

Both, it usually goes like this, wheel half the day, the beers from last night decide they need to exit, stop at the toilets, take a leak and crap, poison oak oils transfer to the bad places. Next month of life is hell.

Speaking of new trails I think we found one last time we were there. Difficulty rivals Tank Traps. Does not look like it's ever been run yet, or in a long time. Pretty steep and rutted. I'll post some pics soon and point on the map where its at.

Unfortunately fastest anything through the trails at HH will probably produce a rash of tickets bigger than any poison oak infection in history.
I would wager that is why the events we have so far are tolerated; they are low-speed obstacle events, which fits the description of what they want to the letter.
Add speed, and it could provide an excuse.
With that in mind, there has to be some other sort of obstacle challenge that can be had.
One-on-one tug of war in the mudpit? A fat hill climb?
Hey have any of you been up to the White Rock trail?
It looked rather new to us when we came across it this last summer, so was wondering.
It didn't have a sign of its own, the route was marked on the nearby trail sign for Fremontia and paralleled it at some points.
It was rated as a double black, and showed signs of considerable use.
Here's a map of the upper ranch, it's not on here, but it was in the area to the left of Fremontia, heading towards Hector Heights.
http://www.norcalbigdawgs.net/Gallery/albums/maps/upperranch.jpg
The trail was a jumble of loose slippery rocks (looked mostly milk quartz) wallet-sized and larger mixed with soil, that climbed up to a crevice about 25-30 feet in length, and higher than the cab of the rig.
I got a video of us going up it around someplace, let me see if I can find it.....
Can't find it, but here are a few pics of the trail
Going up

Turning the corner through the crevice

Coming back down

Anyways it looked like it could have potential, if it's a valid trail, for a type of climbing obstacle event..
I have been up this one.
With lockers front and rear and the oil burner chugging it was a cake walk for me.

driver blinded with navigator sounds good (to watch). Reminds me of this weeks fear factor. Mother driving and spinning out and kid yelling and screaming because they lost
