I would like to suggest that the Nor Cal Big Dawgs adopt the Rubicon Trail as their project trail. The Central Valley Regional Water Quality Board (obviously a government organization with a name like that) has given Friends of the Rubicon two years to clean-up and abate 50 years worth of deferred maintenance and they are begging for help. Wouldn’t it be cool if the Big Dawgs volunteered their time in memory of Willyswanter and got out there a couple of times a year to help? FOR’s website is www.rubicanfriends.com

Because I don’t do the Rubicon; I will be contacting Congressman Kevin McCarthy to see if I can get him out to the Hammers with Este and I for a day of wheeling. Johnson Valley is an area the feds are considering closing and he will have a vote plus he’s a member of the “young guns” in the house with substantial influence.

Currently I have a hard time supporting either FOR or RTF due to the the paving that is currently happening, and some the suspesions that have been brought to everyone views recently about where all the donated funds are currently going. Also certian people who have been involed with both RTF & FOR have recently stepped down due to the issues that are out of control (i.e. the paving of the trail)

After seeing the damage (the trees ripped out so the can drive cats through was my final nerve they hit) they have done and knowing what will be caused by all this paving.

Ken I dont mean to offend you on your idea about the con, personally I donate any extra time I have to FOF, Fordcye clean-up or trail fixing

Wow; I’m truly hurt and offended.

Okay; not true. Lots of information I didn’t know and still don’t understand all the details. Nevertheless, according to 4 Wheel and Off-Road; FOR has taken the lead for completing a list of projects that must be done within given timeframe in an effort to keep the area open to off-road vehicles. I’m not suggesting giving money to FOR or even supporting them other than assisting in completing these projects; whatever these projects might be.

I know I am new to the forums and everyone here. I am obviously not part of the club but hope that with time and a bit more knowledge I can get out and wheel with you all.

With that being said. I am up for anything that will help to keep our trails open.

Update; I talked to Congressman Kevin McCarthy and he indicated he would be in contact either towards the end of this year or first of next year to schedule a trip with Este and I and friends to the Hammers for an introductory day of rock crawling. He said he has gone off-roading with Blue ribbon coalition but I told him that was different from rock crawling which is better described as extreme off-roading.
