I can finally talk about it a bit now that it's a sure thing. Took the new job I was talkin about in the commuting thread. It's in Paradise, CA- I'll be High Angle Drivelines new main shaft builder/assembler/shipping guy. :D I start tommorrow officially. Just got back from spending a day up there checkin the shop out, seeing how things run, meeting Jesse, lookin around Paradise and Chico. The 78 mile drive takes about an hour and 15 minutes...So I'm 99% sure I'm gonna move to Chico sometime soon. Alittle cheaper to live up that way too. :) Finally a job I'm pretty sure I'll actually enjoy.... I've always wanted to work in the 4x4/wheelin industry somehow. Finally got my foot in the door. :

Remember, now after work you can take skyway till it turns to dirt, follow that till it forks, stay left then when it T's go right and your on the High Lakes 4x4 Trail!! :2thumbs:

And now we'll have a staging area closer to the trail head!! haha  :pimp1:

Joe, West Park Plaza is ok. I had some friends that lived there when I was in school and I “knew” :mrhumpy: a chic that lived there after I got out. It’s a big complex, has a couple pools, and has mostly (90%+) college students that live there (at least when I was there from 1996 to 2000). The area it’s in is ok. We used to call the area right by it the “ghetto”….but it’s Chico so it’s not like East Oakland or Compton. The Ghetto area was from Nord to West Sac up to Warner and over to 4th Ave. But I lived like 2 blocks north-east of that area for like 1.5 years and loved it. I’d say go for it man….especially if it’s going to be temporary. I just hope you like loud drunken college students, parties, and young impressionable nubile ladies who are down for random hook ups!!! :pimp1: :2thumbs:

Let me know if I can help out any other way. I know that part of town like the back of my hand man. Actually….I’m jealous you’re moving there. I’d give my left nut to find a job that paid decent up there and was in my career field….me and the wife would be there in a heartbeat.

Good luck man!!!

True dat!!!! Glad to see we’ll have a club member close to the high lakes now. I’ve been wanting to get a club run up there for years…..maybe next spring/summer we can actually put one together.

I’ve still got friends that live in the area up there…one guy lives in Magalia and is like minutes away from the High Lakes.

Pick a day for a trip up there and I’m down!!!

It's still about 30-45 minutes above Paradise.

Now, I used to live in Chico too, out in California Park on the east side of 99 off of 32 by the Butte County golf course, it's real nice and open over there. If your looking for apartments, I'll try and find the name of the places we lived in, they were pretty nice and clean too, and at that time only $400 a month...but that was '96-'97

The dirt road leading into the high lakes (can’t remember the name of it) is about 1 mile from his house. I’ve done the trip with him from his house once or twice and it took us about 25-30 minutes. He’s got a flat fender willy’s jeep that isn’t even street legal that he just drives from his house out up to the high lakes….talk about spoiled. We had his bachelor party up there and we stayed at the bambi inn…talk about a drunken time!!! It was in early May and there was still TONS of snow up there.

If you were living out off California Park you were in the “ritzy” part of town man!!! They’ve got some NICE houses out there now. Even back in the day (96-97) it was considered the nice/new part of town.

Yeah that is spoiled....wish I had it that ruff, but guess I have gotton to used to the other convienences of bay area life....oh well...

Chico and Ritzy in the same sentence...Haha, but true, however it was closer to my work off Skyway and 99...and moving up there from San Diego my wife and I decided away from the college was "safer" for the marriage...

We are planning a wheelin trip the second weekend of November, probably not High Lakes, more south near Yermo, CA and Calico but the actual location is still in the air. Plus, we have our annual Moon Rocks run coming up in December, our buddy has a bunch of Comp nights in Reno, so we usually wheel all day and gamble at night. :2thumbs:
