Im down for both. I just need to get out have and have some fun wheelin. Besides I want to hear this 454 full throttle, then a 60 shaft snapping. :)

I possibly could be down.
I’ve got to decide between going to Hollister and wheeling or going on my annual Thanksgiving trip with another crew of buddies or going down to Applevalley to visit my pops for turkeyday (and not wheeling). I haven’t yet decided, so I’m up in the air. I should know in the next couple of weeks.
However….if I do go to Hollister, I’m down for Friday thru Sunday and would like to get down there EARLY Friday. I think it could be a pretty fun trip. We would need to bring a LOT of beer though!!!! Jungle trail in the rain or wet would be pretty gnarly!!!
I’m down for a Jan 6-8 Hollister trip as well.

Yeah…very true. But you know….maybe I’m a weirdo or something….but I actually really enjoy camping/wheeling in bad weather. Snow, rain, mud…I think it’s pretty fun. We’ll just have to bring some tarps, set up some “lean to” shelters, bring some good booze to warm you up, and deal with it!!
jays68yak
10-20-2005, 04:07 PM
I can deal with the rain and mud. Snow.....now thats cold. I dont like freezing. Let me tell you tho. You have never :pain: till you :pain: in a bag on the rubicon in the middle of the night while your legs are shaking due to the cold.

Oh suck it up, you big sally!!!!
I’ve camped in weather in the single digits and it’s not that bad…..assuming you are prepared to do so!!!! An adequately rated/suited sleeping bag, tent and clothes for the weather you are in are a MUST. If you don’t have the proper equipment, it can and WILL make your experience a horrible one.
Granted, out of all the bad weather you can have out there….I think I’m least fond of camping in rain. Just because it’s a PITA to deal with and EVERYTHING gets wet, it’s difficult to hang out in, etc. But, there are still ways around it.
jays68yak
10-20-2005, 04:19 PM
have you seen my sleeping bags? They are from the 70s, or so Kevins says, Im thinking more of the 80s. I think over the years they stop working so well. :uh oh:
I just want to go wheel darn it!

All I’ve got to say is I was UBER impressed with the performance of the new beadlocks and IROK’s. I had them aired down to less than 10psi and they held up just fine. There were numerous times that I climbed right up the face of vertical dirtwalls/rock ledges with the SIDE of my tire and or wheel. Never lost a bead or a bolt. There were a couple of times I heard a “psssst” and air started to rush out….but I’d goose the throttle a bit and get out of the situation I was in and I was fine.
Other hightlights of the weekend (in no particular order):
1.Darren’s “Lord of the dance” impersonation on the hood of his scout
2.Darren’s subsequent “digger” off the hood of his scout onto the ground below
3.Jerry and “Ursula” bombing through tank trap, spinning doughnuts and flopping it, and his general disregard for the well being of his rig….good show Jerry…as always…great entertainment
4.Jason’s (the bako one) supreme fire bomb knowledge and the implementation of it at camp Saturday night
5.Wrestling in camp is cool.
6.“Is he big? Is he brown?....well let him in.” Thanks Eric…that’s forever ingrained in my head…..
7.The looks I got while driving down to HH in my rig…with the top off….the doors off….in the rain…..
8.“Borrowing” a squeegee from a gas station….to squeegee off the INSIDE of my windshield…WHILE driving down to HH
9.I like chainsaws!!!!
10.Running tank trap…twice….good times!!!
11.Kevin’s truck no breaky!!! But I did learn that Kevin’s drive shafts are NOT technically part of his truck.
12.Jason’s (the other one) hard work on his rig paid off….congrats on what I believe to be a record for coming the farthest along with a rig in the shortest amount of time. Now…just get the radiator issue solved and it’s go time!!
13.Ouch…my liver hurts.
