Just day dreaming at here at work in between phone calls, yelling at subs, writing threatening letters etc…..and I was thinking about 42” tires.
What’s the chance of fitting 42’s on my rig with a 4” lift? I’ve got 38’s on there now and there doesn’t seem to be a problem. I’ve already cut the hell out of the body to get where I’m at now. Not opposed to cutting more….to a point. I’m not ready for the truggy look (yet) and I need it to at least “appear” somewhat street legal as it will still see some street time. I think they’d fit without too much rubbing and/or cutting. Anyone got some input? Worst case scenario….I’ll just go with some 40’s. Been looking at the bias ply irok’s or the MTR’s.

CUT IT!
:)
I think it would be close but I dont see why not. I think someone on ck5 just put some bigger tires on with no lift, then put a 4 inch and it seemed ok. I bet you would rub like hell. Would also depend on the width of the tire.

Would like to keep them as skinny as possible (12.5’s if possible). But I don’t think they make 42’s that small. I’m not a fan of fat tires.
I don’t mind them rubbing….I just don’t want them to rub so much they damage the tire.
My biggest fear is that I spend tons of $$$$ on some 42’s, and then I have major issues with them fitting and am either stuck with the tires or I lose my ass selling them. I refuse to lift my rig any higher than I’ve already got it, but I want to fit some bigger meats on there.

Do you have your front axle moved forward at all? Do ya have 52's up front yet?
This is my truck waaay back when it had 4" Ez-rides with the axle in the stock location-

Even trimming some of the sharp edges and bashing the shit out of the firewall with a hammer wouldn't keep the tires from seriously mashing into the firewall at even alittle bit of flex while turned. Moving the axle forward 2"with the 52's kept them off the firewall in all but extreme flexed and turned to the stops situations. Like exhaust leaks, tires rubbing drives me nuts, so I took the tire back off and seriously bashed on the firewall till it almost interfered with the clutch pedal travel. Now the tires don't touch no matter what. And I think the narrowest 42" tire is the Irok. According to the Interco website, the 42-15x16.5 TSL has a tread width of 13", the 42-14x16.5 Irok is 11.44".

No 52's up front.
Axle is moved about 1 3/4" forward though (via some shims). Sounds like it might be kinda tough to fit 'em. I'm going to go flex out my rig this weekend and see how much room I have and then I'll go from there. I know i can fit 40's.

I have 6" springs with the axle moved forward 2" and never got the 42s to rub at BF. My junk flexes like ass though. You'd be close, but it's definately doable.

Yeah, if ya have stiff ass springs, you prolly wouldn't have any problems. But who wants some bone jarring, kidney killers? :flipoff2:
what about 44s and a 4 inch lift :flipoff2:
