The 454 thats now in the blazer had an oil cooler. Can I just plug the ports or do I have to remove that adapter that the oil filter screws onto? Basicly I was wondering if all the oil goes out, then back in before it hits the filter. If thats the case, pluging the ports will block the oil from going to the filter?

I have that too. To eliminate it I assume you would need another spacer without the ports, otherwize the filter has notheing to screw onto with the spacer removed.
My opinion is buy a cooler and use the lines, you will never have cooling issues if you do this.
As for pluging the ports??? I duno if that will screw with the flow or not?
This is what I bought:

You will need to change adapters, if you don't and just plug them you will not get any oil anywhere because it must go through the filter before it goes anywhere else.

just take the adapter off and install a threaded coupler. if you can't find one check napa or just pull one off of a 350 and install the oil cooler stuff onto it :2thumbs:

I think I might call the dealership on the second one since its a gm part. See if they have it in stock and what their cost is.

Yes, either one of those will work. Funny how the one with the hardware is cheaper though.

What do you mean you never had a problem with it getting hot? I thought this engine was new to you?
Put it this way, if'n yer out on the trail in the dead of summer heat the last thing you want is cooling issues..trust me...been there done that and it SUCKED...had to stop every 10 min and the rest of the folks I was wheelin with wern't enjoying the lag time eaither...that was my 350 w/3core rad.
I'm not saying the oil cooler will make or brake your cooling system just that the added insurance plus the extra quart of oil is peace of mind. Once you get the lines leak free not much else is gonna fail...
Anyway just my .02c

im right tho....i have never had a prob with this motor getting hot. :p
You have a valid points. And this may be something I look into down the road. Just right now I cant swing the $100 or so for a cooler, when its $20 for the adapter. I want to get it running at this point. Anothing thing, some of the aftermarket relocation/coolers still need the spin on piece that I am missing. Unless I use the stock adapter which I could do.

Speaking of cooling problems….you are using the BB radiator now correct? Please tell me you are not using the 350 radiator……

If/when your engine gets too hot replace the Rad first. I got mine from http://www.radiator.com/ and it was THE CHEEPEST I could find AND it showed up like that day I ordered it. They use a local parts house..kinda like the FTD flower deal were they are affilated with many suppliers accross the nation..just FYI
Oh and I hear ya on the Get-R-Running mindset...you will need a 4core though :argue: :chaz:

I think the one in there might be a 4 core, prob a 3 tho. I have the one from the 454 donor, and it looks brand new.
I honestly dont know why I didnt put it in. I think I might swap it out tonight since there isnt water in it yet.
