I hear they have a 36 month warranty. Free replacement? Anyone ever returned one?

I don't have the receipt anymore, but I think I bought it less than 2 years ago at Costco...

Mine's toast :uh oh:

Call Optima and check with them about the warranty. If they say it's 3 years then you can call Costco and give them the date of when you think you bought and and they can look up all your pruchases in the last 3 years.

If you loose the reciept from Costco will they give you a copy if you know the date?

I know Optima will replace 3 years from the date of purchase with a reciept and if you don't have a reciept then it's 3 years from the date of manufacture.
Which most times is a few months before.

I assume they will if they have it on the computer. I have not asked for one. I simply asked for an item number off of one.

Costco most likely won't have records over a year old, they will be in a file somewhere, not in the stores computer. But they should be able to go by the date on the battery as was said earlier.

They go back as far as 3 years. You go in and they will print you a receipt.

I called Costco and couldn't get past the hold times...

I also called Optima... they want the burn code. If it's within 36 months, they'll ship me a replacement.

Thanks for the info guys!

The manufacture date was Dec. '03. They just wanted to see that I had had it checked... so they are calling Autozone to confirm that I took it there and it wouldn't hold a charge.

nothing beats the costco warranty. ya bring stuff in there and day you bought it there and they replace. If the price is lower currently they give you money back. Receipt is best but they go either way. Have had no troubles at costco. Too bad they couldnt upgrade you to another one besides a red top. Some have had lots of trouubles with those.

what is it with costco red tops going bad? Mine started taking a dump a year after I bought it. Its on its last month of its warranty, and I found out a couple of days ago that if I took it to autozone, they could call them, confirm its bad, and get a new one sent to me from the MFG. Now I know... :/

I don't think all "Red Tops" are the same. I seam to recall noticing the 99 dollor Costco Red Top has a lower CCA # that the Red Tops in my K5 ($129).
I have TWO old redtops in my garage...one is from 95 though, but it just died when I pulle dht 350 out so it lasted a LOOOOOONG time :2thumbs:
Hell they still work for pumping up air mattres and stuff. But no power to turn a BBC...There FREE come getum
