It ain't just a river in Egypt...
but I have been kidding myself for  believing that I could actually get my truck running in time for Pismo. Too much to do and too little time to do it. For those of you who know the story, I don't think I'm physically well enough to go that soon anyways...
SO a couple of you will be happy to know that I have a reservation up for grabs.
Arrive: Friday, May 26
Depart: Sunday, May 28
The cost is what I paid.... $27.50
This will get you a campsite for 2 nights with 1 tow vehicle and 1 towed vehicle.
First response...

I'm pretty bummed, but got my sights set on BF now and Pismo will still be there. My truck has been down for so long, I don't want to rush and throw in a new engine just for the sake of having a running vehicle. I have a ton of other stuff I'd like to do while the engine is out.
Please do have as many beers as you think I can drink. I have been on the wagon for 6 weeks, so 1 or 2 will probably do it

What is not legit about getting towed in?? This is as legit as it gets, no tom foolery, or hocus pocus. I tow you in, or vice versa (prolly you tow me in, so I dont have to unload) With the proper reservation, they dont care who owns the rig towing, or that is towed in, as long as the documentation is in order, its that easy.

Day Use in, drop your trailer full of stuff at camp.
go back out, have tony tow your trailer and your truck on it back in. or like tony said tow him in. Or Heather's Jeep on trailer.
Get camping pass with tony's or Shewheeler's reservation, Set it up in advance with tony or Heather(my other Kid) on who arrives first or Pay his/her Day Use to come in and get you....

You'd be pushing your luck to try it on Memorial Day weekend and I think the ticket is over $300 now :uh oh:

I got the Ticket camping without a Pass one 4th July weekend when it cost $75. That's kind of why we make it a point to start the Pismo Post 6 months in advance. So everyone could get there reservations going early. I have also seen the ranger drive through Camp every morning checking.

1) You get a day pass
2) you drive to camp and drop off yer trailer
3) you hook up with someone who is gonna tow you in or vice versa
4) you go through the gate where you receive a sticker (one for the tower and one for the towee). The sticker has the dates you are good to be there for.
As long as yer junk is registered for the street, you can go into town and drive around as much as you want even though you're the towee... get it?

Do you have a place to leave your truck in town that it wont get ticketed, or towed???
I typically shoot down 5, and cut over on pacheco pass, then down, but if I follow others down, who knows...

speaking of pismo, hopefully by tomorrow i'll have pics from the water crossing this weekend. there are some real dumbasses out there. I pulled a bone stock 05 dodge diesel out and a lifted S10 out. Both had just watched me go through in the blazer with water over the top of my 37s and waves coming in hard....

Every year I have been there I see them walk around as soon as there is light and usually before everyone is awake. They have a field day with people and day passes. They cannot get everyone though, too many people to look through. It's just a matter of risk and if you want to try it. Dogman has given good ways of getting in. For 27.50 thats a great deal. Just need to take care of sunday night and your set. They should do it like the lottery, pay up front for a few years at a time then no worries! I plan on being there every memorial day! With or without truck, will see....
